Giridih: The 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was observed on Tuesday with a unity march held at Jhanda Maidan. Giridih MP Chandraprakash Choudhary attended as chief guest, along with state RLP president Rajkumar Raj, BJP leader Kameshwar Paswan, AJSU women’s district president Priyanka Sharma Nehru, Giridih College principal Dr Anuj Kumar, Prof Vinita Kumari, Bandhana Chourasia, Soni Sah, Dharmendra Kumar and representatives of Nehru Yuva Kendra. A large number of NSS and NCC cadets and students also took part.
The march began after the MP and other guests waved the green flag and placed garlands before a portrait of Patel. The procession moved from Jhanda Maidan through Tower Chowk, Kalibari, Maktpur, Barganda and JC Bose Road before returning to the starting point.
During the march, students and other participants raised patriotic slogans. They also took a pledge to stay away from intoxicants and uphold the unity and sovereignty of the country.
