Hazaribagh, May 31: Unidentified miscreants fired upon Lakhan Sao who is the husband of Hazaribagh Zilla Parishad chairman Sushila Devi while he was travelling in an SUV today from Barkagaon to Hazaribagh.
The miscreants also shot his driver Dharmendra Singh. Both of them have been refrred to RIMS Ranchi, where their condition was stated to be critical. Police sources said that a group of criminals on board a separate SUV fired upon their vehicles while he was on his way to Hazaribagh.
Both of them have sustained several bullet injuries. Police has recovered an AK-47 from the spot alongwith empty cartridges of AK-47. Sao was earlier associated with Sushil Srivastav Gang but later separated ways and started his own business.
Police has imposed section 144 in the city and has urged the people to maintain calm as some vested interests were trying to give the incident a communal flavour. Additional police forces have been also deployeed in the town.
