Ranchi: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has taken major action against interstate opium smugglers.
Three members of this gang have been arrested. According to the information received from ATS, all three accused have been arrested from Khunti-Murhu Road. The three criminals who have been arrested include Ram Kumar Munda, a resident of Marangdaha police station of Khunti, Virendra Dangi, a resident of Pathargada police station of Chatra and Rajkumar Sao, a resident of Jagannathpur, Ranchi. Police recovered five kilos and eight grams of opium, Rs 32,500, three mobile phones and two bikes from them.
According to the Police, there was secret information that illegal opium would be bought and sold through inter-state drug smugglers in the Khunti police station area. After the information, ATS took immediate action and arrested three smugglers near the MS Mile Indian Oil Petrol Pump located on Khunti-Murhu Road.
According to the Police, the arrested smugglers had a previous criminal history. In this, Virendra Dangi has already gone to jail for drug smuggling. He has also served 10 years of imprisonment. The arrested accused also smuggled opium from Jharkhand state to Western Uttar Pradesh and Punjab state. It has also come to light that these accused have links with an inter-state smuggling gang.
