Ten students of Jharkhand return from Ukraine

Ranchi: On Friday afternoon ten students of Jharkhand having their native places in six different districts landed at the Birsa Munda Airport here from Ukraine. The students hail from Godda, Sahebganj, Dumka, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum and Hazaribagh districts. Parents of the children had come to receive them at the airport. The students as well their parents were seen getting emotional after seeing them safe. In the evening and later in the night also more students will be coming back to the state.

The Ranchi district administration and labour department has also made arrangements at the airport for the arrival of the people from Ukraine. Talking to the press the students said that despite receiving alerts that a war maybe they could not manage to return home. They said that they had not expected that soon the situation will get out of control.

They said that since the universities were functioning therefore they did not want to abandon their studies midway. The students said that talks regarding the war was going on in Ukraine for the last several months but they did not imagine the situation to get so bad.

Narrating their experiences the students said that with every sound of a bomb falling they got tensed for their safety. Moreover, they said that the weather in the war-hit country was also bad and they had to face lots of trouble while trying to reach Romania’s borders. A student said that he breathed a sigh of relief only after getting to know that the Government of India is going to rescue them, however, he said that there are many students still trapped in Ukraine.
