Tarun Gupta returns to BJP after six-year break, Babulal Marandi hails comeback

Giridih — Tarun Kumar Gupta, a senior political figure from Jamtara, officially rejoined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, ending a six-year separation. He was welcomed by Babulal Marandi, the BJP’s Jharkhand unit chief and Leader of Opposition, during a ceremony at Marandi’s Giridih residence.

Once the BJP’s district president in Jamtara, Gupta has contested four assembly elections—twice under the BJP banner and twice as an independent. He previously served in the district’s 20-point programme implementation committee as vice-president.

Six years ago, Gupta was removed from the BJP for running against its official candidate. Now back in the party, Gupta expressed his commitment to party values and vowed to work with full devotion.

“I deeply appreciate the BJP’s decision to welcome me again. I assure complete dedication to the roles and responsibilities assigned to me. I will do my best to strengthen the party, especially in Santhal Pargana,” he stated.

Marandi praised Gupta’s return, calling it a boost for the BJP in a region that has posed challenges in past elections. “His experience and connection with grassroots workers will energize our base in Jamtara and beyond,” Marandi added.
