Bokaro – In an early morning encounter on Wednesday in Bokaro, Jharkhand, two Maoists were shot dead, while one jawan from the CRPF’s elite CoBRA-209 unit also died in the gunfight. The exchange of fire occurred in the Birhordera forest area within Gomia police station limits.
The operation began after receiving intelligence about Maoist movement in the region. Around 6 a.m., Maoists opened fire on the patrolling forces. The security personnel retaliated, killing two Maoists. One was in combat uniform, the other in civilian attire.
An AK-47 rifle was seized from the spot. The operation is ongoing as police comb the dense forest for other hidden Maoists. The CRPF jawan, who was critically injured, died en route to the hospital.
