New Delhi – The success of Operation Sindoor has struck a chord with the Indian public, with a large majority believing that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has delivered a strong message to nuclear-armed Pakistan for its support of terrorism, according to a nationwide opinion poll released on Monday.
Conducted by IANS-Matrize News Communications, the poll reveals a significant surge in public approval for Prime Minister Modi following the operation. Out of 7,463 respondents surveyed across Assembly constituencies between May 9 and 15:
- 92% believe the government is serious about its fight against terrorism.
- 69% feel the military action has enhanced Prime Minister Modi’s stature on the global stage.
- 66% believe Operation Sindoor was completely successful in striking high-value terror targets within Pakistan.
- An additional 18% consider the operation partially successful, while only 9% viewed it as unsuccessful.
Furthermore, a majority—66% of those polled—support the Modi government’s proposed diplomatic campaign to increase pressure on Pakistan internationally by exposing its involvement in cross-border terrorism.
When asked which Indian leader is best suited to respond strongly to Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, 70% of respondents named Prime Minister Narendra Modi as their top choice.
In comparison:
- Rahul Gandhi garnered only 5% support.
- Asaduddin Owaisi, chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), surprisingly came in third with 4% backing.
