State Election Commission ready for panchayat polls: DK Tiwari

Ranchi: The State Election Commission is fully prepared to conduct the three-tier panchayat elections and is only waiting for the go-ahead from the government.

State election commissioner DK Tiwari said that the commission has completed its preparations and as soon as the government will give its final approval the commission will commence the process to conduct the elections as preparations from headquarters level to district level have been completed.

DK Tiwari said that to conduct the panchayat polls a total of 45 working days are required and all necessary arrangements have been made and post-approval of the government the entire process will be completed within one and a half months. He said that in all the districts polling booths and other tasks have been finalized.

The panchayat elections will be held on 53480 polling booths through which 4345 mukhiyas, 53479 ward councilors, 5341 panchayat Samiti members, and 536 Zilla Parishad members will be elected. Giridih has a maximum number of booths at 4460 while Lohardaga had the lowest at 803. A maximum of 344 Mukhiyas will be elected from Giridih while a minimum of 81 Mukhiyas will be elected from the Lohardaga district.
