Ranchi: Student leader Devendra Nath Mahto, who has been spearheading the agitation against alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC recruitment processes, held a nearly 30-minute video call with noted innovator Sonam Wangchuk on Wednesday, as the protest entered its 12th day and his indefinite hunger strike reached the fourth day.
According to the organisers, Wangchuk enquired about the progress of the movement and Mahto’s health during the interaction. He also shared his views and encouraged the protesters to continue their campaign through peaceful and democratic means.
During the conversation, Mahto accepted water at Wangchuk’s request. He also invited the renowned innovator to visit Ranchi and interact with the protesting students to boost their morale.
Speaking to the media after the interaction, Mahto reiterated that his indefinite hunger strike and the satyagraha would continue until the alleged irregularities and corruption in the JPSC and JSSC recruitment processes are investigated impartially and the demands of the aspirants are addressed through concrete action.
The students’ protest, being held under the banner of the “JPSC-JSSC Corruption-Free Recruitment Campaign”, has been demanding greater transparency in recruitment examinations and action against those responsible for the alleged irregularities.
