Mumbai: Actress Sonakshi Sinha has expressed concern over the ongoing student protests in Jharkhand, describing the situation as “disheartening” and questioning when such hardships faced by students would finally come to an end.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Sonakshi shared her thoughts while resharing a video that explained the reasons behind the protests. She wrote, “It’s so disheartening to see students of our country go through this… when will it stop???”
The video highlighted the growing frustration among students, many of whom have voiced anger over repeated allegations of examination paper leaks and irregularities in recruitment exams.
Thousands of students have been staging large-scale protests in Ranchi, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged corruption, irregularities, and paper leaks linked to the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination and the JSSC-CGL recruitment exam. The movement has gathered momentum, with students holding sit-ins at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium and receiving support from several activist groups.
The controversy intensified last month after an OMR answer sheet, allegedly belonging to a successful candidate in a government recruitment examination, went viral on social media. The document surfaced shortly after the JPSC preliminary results were announced and claimed that the candidate had qualified despite attempting only 48 out of 100 questions in the first paper.
The viral post fueled allegations of paper leaks and irregularities in government recruitment examinations, triggering widespread student demonstrations across Ranchi.
This is not the first time Sonakshi has spoken in support of the protesting students. Earlier, following allegations of violence during a student march to Jantar Mantar as part of the CJP protest, she had posted on social media, “20th July… bohot logon ki haddiyaan tooti aur ek poore desh ka dil toota. Yaad rakhna.”
