SIT Formed to Probe Ranchi RSS Office Petrol Bomb Attack; Two Detained for Questioning

Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the petrol bomb attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Ranchi’s Nivaranpur area. Police have also detained two individuals for questioning in connection with the incident.

The attack took place late Tuesday night when two petrol bombs were allegedly hurled at the RSS office. CCTV footage shows two youths throwing the crude explosives towards the building. While one bomb exploded, the other failed to detonate. No injuries were reported, and the office did not suffer any significant damage.

Given the seriousness of the incident, the government ordered the formation of an SIT. A forensic team and a dog squad have also been deployed to assist in the investigation.

Police are reconstructing the sequence of events using CCTV footage, forensic evidence and information gathered from the interrogation of the detained suspects. Investigators are also working to identify any other individuals who may have been involved and determine the motive behind the attack.

Ranchi City SP Paras Rana said police teams and forensic experts reached the spot immediately after the incident was reported. Evidence has been collected from the scene, and a detailed investigation is underway.

Following the attack, several senior BJP leaders visited the RSS office and met Director General of Police Tadasha Mishra, urging swift action. The DGP assured them that the investigation was progressing quickly and that those responsible would be arrested soon.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das condemned the attack and called for a fair and comprehensive investigation. He said the probe should not only lead to the arrest of the perpetrators but also uncover any larger conspiracy, if one exists. Das also welcomed the government’s decision to constitute an SIT, saying he had earlier urged the DGP to take the step.

Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi also termed the incident “extremely serious and alarming.” He said he had instructed the Ranchi SP, Deputy Commissioner and the Director General of Police to ensure the swift identification and arrest of those involved.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
