Ranchi: According to a special bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre Jharkhand, Ranchi, a warning has been issued for severe cold and cold wave conditions across Jharkhand until further orders. Ranchi district has been placed under the Yellow Zone, indicating the likelihood of intense cold and cold wave conditions.
In view of this, and under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, academic activities for students from KG to Class 12 in all government, non-government, and private schools operating within Ranchi district have been suspended from January 5, 2026, to January 6, 2026. School managements have been directed to strictly ensure compliance with this order.
If any school has examinations scheduled during this period, the conduct of such examinations will be decided by the respective school authorities at their discretion. Similarly, the operation of Classes 10 and 12 will also be subject to the discretion of the school management.
It may be noted that government schools were already closed for students due to winter vacations until January 5. On January 6, government schools will remain open for teachers, who are required to attend school, mark their attendance on the eVV platform, and carry out non-academic administrative work.
