Secretary Rural Development holds review meeting over progress of Mnrega

Ranchi: Under the chairmanship of Secretary Rural Development Prashant Kumar, the progress in Mnrega scheme was reviewed through video conferencing. In the meeting Secretary, Rural Development Department Prashant Kumar expressed his strong displeasure over the progress in Mnrega schemes in various districts.

Secretary Prashant Kumar said that Mnrega is not a scheme but it is a powerful means of generating employment for the villagers.
During this, he directed all the Deputy Development Commissioners to fully monitor the work and ensure that the schemes operated under Mnrega should be visible on the ground. In the meeting, many other important instructions were given to the Deputy Development Commissioners regarding the schemes being run under the scheme.

The Secretary reviewed the rejected transactions and directed them to understand the problems caused by the rejected transactions of the workers working in the schemes operated under Mnrega and to get them rectified without delay. He talked about improving the rejected transactions within a week and giving relief to the laborers. He said that Deputy Development Commissioner has an important role in rural development schemes. 

He said that they have to work with a free hand and focus on achieving the target but complaints should not be received or action will be taken on complaints. Reviewing the progress of the renovation/construction of 75 ponds under the Amrit Sarovar scheme, the secretary directed to complete the work in time. In addition, the Rurban Mission was also reviewed. Mnrega Commissioner Rajeshwari B also instructed all DDCs to obtain affidavits every month from all the JCBs operating in their area that their vehicles are not being used for Mnrega works.

The Mnrega Commissioner also directed to take action and confiscate under relevant sections if JCB is used in works. During the meeting, she also directed necessary progress in the creation of man-days under Mnrega. She asked all DDCs to bring progress in creation of Man Days. The plans for the financial year 2019- 20 were also reviewed by her and after taking information about the pending plans all the Deputy Development Commissioners were instructed to prepare an action plan and complete it without delay.

During this clarification was sought from the officials of the worst-hit districts in the state. Joint Secretary Rural Development Department, Arun Kumar Singh, and others were also involved in the video conferencing.
