Secretary Rural Development asks officials to work according to policies

Ranchi: Secretary of the Rural Development Department, Dr. Manish Ranjan, while addressing the Deputy Development Commissioner, Project Officer of all the districts said that the policies of zero tolerance should be followed
over the execution of the rural development scheme.

Speaking at the concluding session of the two-day workshop on the Annual Action Plan of the Rural Development Department Dr. Manish Ranjan said that priority schemes should be included in the main agenda as well as best practices should be shared with the media and legal action should be taken against those who do wrong. He said that the master rolls for Mnrega should be filled in a proper and transparent manner.

Along with this, action should be ensured against middlemen in Mnrega scheme. Keep in mind that the monitoring of the implementation of Mnrega scheme is being done by the Government of India, so there is a need to strengthen the monitoring system.

Mnrega Commissioner Rajeshwari B said that the focus should be on rural development and Aadhaar seeding of beneficiaries should be ensured by ensuring job card verification. She also expressed displeasure with the officials for the laxity regarding Mnrega schemes in various districts.

The commissioner said that the pending projects should be completed within three months. She said that there is a need to improve the rejected transactions. If NMMS is not being done, then action can be taken against the Block Development Officer she said adding that if a mate is not working then the services of computer operators can be taken.

She said that remember that only the updated status of the plans should be uploaded, geo-tagging along with the completeness of the plan. She said that those schemes of zero expenditure should be deleted which are of 2018-19.

The workshop was mainly attended by SIRD Director Suraj Kumar, Additional Secretary Rural Development Department Ram Kumar Sinha, Deputy Development Commissioners and Project Officers of all the districts were present.
