Satisfied and contented after passage of Sarna Adivasi Religious Code: Hemant Soren

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that he was extremely satisfied and at peace in his heart after the Sarna Adivasi Religious Code was passed in the assembly.

Earlier a delegation Rashtriya Adivasi Sarna Dharam Raksha Abhiyaan met the Chief Minister and thanked him for getting the Sarna Adivasi Religious Code passed in the assembly. The Chief Minister thanked the members of the society for their cooperation. He said that over the passage of Sarna Adivasi Religious Code not only the tribals of Jharkhand but also those in West Bengal and Odisha are happy and are expressing their joy. However he said that it was a first step and there was a long way forward. He exuded confidence that the sound of the steps taken by the state government would be heard long across the country.

He said that for the last 15 days he was worried over passage of the code and wanted the code to be passed and sent to the centre. However he said that he was extremely satisfied after the proposal was passed and was now at peace within his heart.

He said that though the proposal has been passed by the assembly more battles have to be fought. He said that the center will have to implement the proposal at any cost so that it can be included in the census and the government has already prepared a future course of action. The Chief Minister said that the steps of the government have never stopped to ensure that the Sarna followers could get their due.

The Chief Minister said that there are many hurdles in implementation of the code and how they can be addressed for this the members of the community needed to come forward with suggestions. He said that soon TAC would be formed over which the matter would be taken for discussion as for him the issue was above party and religion and cooperation was everyone was being sought.
