Ranchi: Rs 107 crore has been allocated to Jharkhand Police under SRE (Security Related Expenditure) fund. An order regarding this has been issued by the Home Jail and Disaster Management Department. For the financial year 2023-24, Rs 124.92 crore was approved by the Center for SRE Fund. Against which Rs 107 crore has been allocated to Jharkhand by the Home Department.
SRE fund is given to states seriously affected by extremism. The Central Government provides assistance to the State Governments by providing financial assistance to completely modernize their police forces and equip them with modern equipment.
The following works will be done from the SRE fund –
- Payment of compensation to the families of civilians / security forces killed in extremist violence.
- Compensation to surrendered Naxalites.
- Construction of a fortified police station.
- Civic Action Programme.
- Construction of roads for insurgency affected areas –
- Providing helicopters for anti-Naxal operations.
- Fund for four wheelers and two wheelers
- Fund for making police pickets
- Deploying Central Armed Police Forces in insurgency affected states.
Maoist influenced districts in Jharkhand include Ranchi, Khunti, Bokaro, Chatra, Dhanbad, East Singhbhum, Garhwa, Giridih, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Latehar, Lohardaga, Palamu, Simdega, Seraikela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum. The eight most Maoist affected districts include Chatra, Giridih, Gumla, Khunti, Lohardaga, Latehar, Seraikela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum.
