Nagpur – In a major push towards employment generation, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari distributed appointment letters to candidates selected for various Central government departments during the 16th edition of the Rozgar Mela, held at the CRPF Group Centre in Hingna, Nagpur.
The event was part of a nationwide campaign aimed at empowering the youth through meaningful job opportunities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the gathering virtually and distributed over 71,000 appointment letters to new recruits across multiple government departments and organizations. He emphasized that the Rozgar Mela showcases the government’s strong commitment to job creation and building a stronger nation.
Highlighting India’s strengths – a vast youth population and a vibrant democratic system – the Prime Minister said these are the twin pillars shaping the country’s future.
Launched in 2022, the Rozgar Mela has become a flagship employment initiative. In its 16th edition, held on July 12, 2025, an additional 51,000 appointment letters were distributed, pushing the total number of government jobs facilitated through the initiative past the one million mark.
PM Modi reiterated the vital role of youth in building a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), and praised the rise of start-ups, innovation, and research, which are enhancing the nation’s capabilities.
He also announced the Employment Linked Incentive Scheme, with an allocation of nearly ₹1 lakh crore, expected to generate approximately 3.5 crore jobs. He further noted that the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has already created over 11 lakh jobs, and that India’s electronics manufacturing sector has reached a valuation of ₹11 lakh crore.
Speaking at the event, Nitin Gadkari urged the new recruits to view their government positions not just as jobs but as opportunities to serve the nation. He stressed the importance of dedication, responsibility, and excellence in public service.
The 16th Rozgar Mela was launched by PM Modi via video conferencing, connecting 47 cities across the country. In Nagpur, 25 candidates selected for roles in the Railways, Postal Services, Defence, and Health departments received their appointment letters from Minister Gadkari at Mangal Mandap in North Nagpur.
Representing the South East Central Railway Division, a total of 148 candidates in Nagpur were formally inducted into government service. The event was filled with emotional testimonies from the new appointees.
Amol Antaram Meshram from Bonde village expressed heartfelt thanks, saying the Rozgar Mela gave him the chance to serve the nation. Formerly running a coaching institute, he felt called to pursue government service to fully realize his potential.
Nidhi Kushwaha from Bankhedi village in Madhya Pradesh, appointed as an electrical technician in Indian Railways, shared how her life had been humble until now. Inspired by her maternal uncle, she studied hard, as her family couldn’t afford to start a business.
Arti Blakrishna from Bhandara, Maharashtra, selected for Grade 1 in the signal division, said the recruitment process was transparent and efficient. She expressed her happiness at securing a government job, calling it a turning point for her and her family’s future.
All three new recruits agreed that the Rozgar Mela, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, has given recognition and dignity to unemployed youth, who often go unnoticed in society.
The Rozgar Mela continues to be a powerful and transformative platform, linking capable youth to employment and enabling self-reliance and national growth. As the initiative grows, it remains a symbol of the government’s dedication to inclusive development and the empowerment of India’s young workforce.
