Ranchi, Mar 27: Dissatisfied with the results of the 6th JPSC PT
hundreds of students once again staged demonstrations outside the
service commission’s office here and indulged in road blocked.
Later to control the crowd and the agitators the police resorted to
lathi-charge and use of force on the agitators during which one of the
students was injured as he suffered bullet injuries.
Under the banner of ‘Aarakshan Adhikar Manch’ the agitation was
being led by former HRD minister and JVM leader Bandhu Tirkey. The
agitators have alleged of gross irregularities in the exams. They had
also on March 19 held demonstrations outside the JPSC office and had
issued ultimatum to the commission to rectify the mistakes by March
25. However since JPSC failed to take any action the students staged
demonstrations in which students not only from Ranchi but also from
other districts of the state participated.
The agitators alleged that reservation roaster for the SC,ST and the
OBC were not followed by announcing the PT results. The students also
demanded for immediate declaration of cut off marks and said that the
criteria of subject combination in teacher appointment should also be
done away with. Due to the agitation traffic jam took place from
Lalpur Chowk to Kutchury Chowk after which police diverted the traffic
through Jail Mode and Radium Road.
Later in the afternoon the agitators became a bit violent after
which police resorted to lathi-charge in which many students were
injured. On the other hand Mr Bandhu Tirkey said that one student had
also sustained bullet injuries. He said that since morning the
agitation was peacefully going on but it was the judicial magistrate
who instigated the students due to which the situation arose. The
police alleged that the students pelted stones after which action was
taken. The injured student has been admitted at a private hospital.
