Ranchi: It seems that finally, work has commenced making the two most important rivers of the state namely Damodar and Swarnrekha Pollution Free with Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Rai taking on the onus upon himself.

On Sunday Rai along with the team of the Swarnarekha River, Pollution Examining Campaign visited the origin point of the river located at Ranichuwan of Nagdi. After performing the worship of the river Saryu Rai said that some distance from the original place of the river there are many rice mills that store the polluted water in small ditches. The water from those ditches slowly penetrates underground and pollutes the water level. He said that due to pollution the water has turned black and biodiversity has ended. Moreover, the water-borne ecosystem is also facing severe dangers he said.

Saryu asked the state government to develop Ranichuwan as a tourist spot and stressed the need for its beautification and undertaking plantation drive. He said that he had a few days back spoken with the tourism secretary over the matter who had shown positive intent.

He said that in towns like Ranchi and Jamshedpur problem of urban and industrial pollution has become more as the industries directly dump their waste into the water moreover drains from homes and localities also fall directly into the river due to which the water level in rivers has become highly polluted.
