Ranchi Gears Up for Dussehra: Effigies of Ravana to be Burned at Morahabadi Maidan

Ranchi – The capital city of Jharkhand is set to celebrate Dussehra with great fervour today at the iconic Morahabadi Maidan, where massive effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad will be consigned to flames.

Organisers said the event will feature traditional Ramleela performances depicting scenes from the Ramayana, culminating in the symbolic destruction of evil as Lord Rama’s arrow sets the effigies ablaze. The ritual draws thousands of spectators each year, marking the triumph of good over evil.

Elaborate security arrangements, traffic diversions, and medical facilities have been put in place by the district administration to ensure smooth conduct of the festivities.

Officials estimate that more than 30,000 people may gather at Morahabadi Maidan to witness the spectacular event, which has been a cultural highlight of Ranchi’s festive calendar for decades.
