Ranchi court denies bail to Tanveer in ‘love jihad’ case

Ranchi: A Ranchi court on Tuesday rejected the bail petition of Tanveer Akhtar who is accused of Love Jihad and sexual exploitation. The court of Chief judicial magistrate of Ranchi t Mithilesh Kumar Singh rejected the bail application of ‘love jihad’ accused Tanveer Akhtar. 

Ranchi police had arrested Akhtar from Bihar after a model lodge an FIR terming it a ‘Love Jihadi’ and saying the youth developed a relationship with her hiding his religious identity and when the relationship became intimate and the time came for marriage he disclosed his religious identity and mounted pressure on her to change religion.

According to a statement of Bihar’s Bhagalpur-based model settled in Mumbai, she fell prey to Akhtar’s ill motive when she had come learning modeling at Yash Modelling Agency, where Tanveer was working as a director and identifying himself with a Hindu name. The model registered a zero FIR in this connection at Versova in Mumbai and later on the basis of the zero FIR, an FIR was registered at the Gonda police station in Jharkhand capital.

Tanveer was arrested by Police on June 14 from Araria, Bihar. Whereas, Model registered her statement in front of the Court on June 8. Along with this model got a medical test. After hearing all the parties Chief Judicial Magistrate Mithilesh Kumar Singh rejected the bail petition of accused Tanveer Akhter. 

According to Sources, Model was sexually exploited while attending class. After opposing she was beaten by Tanveer. Later, the Model was blackmailed by showing nude photos and videos. According to the allegation, the model was pressurized by Tanveer to convert to Islam.

After getting irritated by Tanveer, Model registered an FIR at Mumbai’s Varsova Police Station. Later this case was transferred from Mumbai Police to Ranchi Police.
