R-Day Celebrations: Governor Bais commends state government for works done

Ranchi: Governor Ramesh Bais said that the state government endeavors to make Jharkhand the best state in the country in the coming years. Addressing the people after hoisting the Tricolour on the occasion of the 74th Republic Day programme at the historic Morhabadi grounds of the state capital he said that the constitution of the country is the guide through which the dreams of all round development of the nation is being realized. He said that people should work together to make a better Jharkhand where there is no place for inequality or social discrimination.

He said the state government is sensitive and active in the education sector and is committed to ensuring a hundred percent enrollment of students in the schools and even the issue of the lack of teachers in the universities of the state is also being addressed. 

He said that agriculture and allied activities are the mainstays of the economy, but this time due to less than normal rainfall, sowing and transplanting in the Kharif season has been affected.

He further pointed out that 226 blocks of 22 districts of the state have been declared drought-hit. This has affected the livelihood of 30 lakh farmer families. The government is providing a grant amount of Rs 3500 to these families under the Chief Minister Drought Relief Scheme. 

The Governor further said that 4.5 crore man-days have been generated so far under MNREGA. A total of 4 lakh schemes have been completed in this financial year. Work is being done on 9.75 lakh schemes. In view of the drought, work is being done on five schemes in every village he added.

The Governor said that Integrated Birsa Gram Vikas Yojana cum Krishak Pathshala Yojana is being run to bring prosperity in the agriculture sector by increasing crop production and productivity. Along with this, financial assistance is also being given to the farmers under the Kisan Credit Card Scheme.

Governor Bais further stated that skill development is being done by connecting the women of the state with self-help groups. They are being linked with employment. Didi Bagiya scheme is being run under MNREGA. They are being made to work as gardening friends, he added. 

The Governor also inspected the parade which was followed by a march past by the contingents and tableaus of various departments were also showcased on the occasion. Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh DGP Neeraj Sinha and other senior officials and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
