Ranchi: On the call of All Jharkhand Primary Teachers Association teachers of primary and middle schools of the state gheraoed the Chief Minister’s residence on Saturday in support of their four-point demands. The association
announced that if the demands are not met, an indefinite fast will be done from 17th December.
Due to being ill, the members of the association could not hold talks with the Chief Minister. The teachers attacked the government’s non-promise, Hitlerism and daily departmental exploitation of the officers and openly challenged that if the government is not serious about their legitimate demands, then in the coming days the primary education system will be stopped.
Before this, the teachers took out a rally from Morhabadi Maidan and headed towards the CM’s residence via the Raj Bhawan but they were stopped near the Raj Bhavan. While presiding over the gherao- cumdemonstration, state president of the union Bijendra Choubey said that the government should not discriminate against the teachers. It is adopting an irresponsible attitude towards their legitimate demands. Instead of developing quality education, teachers are burdened with non-academic work.
Many are suffering from serious diseases. With the entry of new NGOs, questions are being raised on the primary education system he said. During the program itself, Health Minister Banna Gupta came to the gherao site. State President Vijender Choubey, General Secretary Ramamurthy Thakur, Chief Spokesperson Naseem Ahmed, Sunil Thakur, Sudhir Dubey went for talks with the Chief Minister. However, the meeting could not take place due to the Chief Minister being unwell.
