Power Crisis: Due to shortage of 350 to 500 MW power during peak time, blackout in many areas of the capital for hours

Ranchi: Unannounced power cuts in Ranchi for the last few days have put the residents of the city in trouble.

Power cuts are being observed mainly in the morning and evening hours in the capital, causing blackouts in many areas during the evening and night hours.

At the same time, due to power cuts in the cold season, the difficulties of the people living inside the house have also increased. Various areas of Ranchi are facing power cuts of four to 10 hours throughout the day.

Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) Managing Director KK Verma admitted that these days the state is passing through a crisis of power supply. However, he also said that the corporation is trying to solve the problem.

He informed that at present there is a shortage of 350 to 500 MW of power in the state during peak time i.e. 6 am to 10 am and 6 pm to 10 pm. He told that the corporation is not able to buy power from the central pool as per the requirement, because the company does not want to default in the payment of outstanding electricity which is why now the work of purchasing power is being done according to the availability of funds.

At the same time, the central government has also put a limit on the number of short-term power purchases. Verma said that the corporation is completely dependent on the payments made by the consumers now.
