Police, CRPF Seize Rifles, SLRs, and Explosives from Naxal Bunker in Giridih

Giridih: In a significant success for anti-Naxal operations, the Giridih Police and CRPF have recovered a substantial cache of arms and explosives from a Naxal bunker hidden in the foothills of Parasnath. The recovery was made following specific intelligence received from confidential sources.

Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a joint search team comprising CRPF and district police launched a focused operation in the Jokhanala area under Khukhra police station—an area known for long-standing Naxal presence.

During the search, security forces uncovered a concealed underground bunker believed to be used by Naxalites for storing weapons and explosive materials. The cache included 14 firearms, among them .303 rifles, self-loading rifles (SLRs), and explosive substances suspected to be gunpowder-based. Authorities believe several of the recovered weapons may have been snatched from security forces during past Naxal ambushes.

Confirming the operation, Giridih Superintendent of Police Dr. Vimal Kumar stated that the operation was based on precise intelligence inputs. He added that a dedicated joint team was constituted by the district police and CRPF to ensure a comprehensive search of the region. The recovery is being viewed as a major blow to the Naxal network and their operational capabilities in the area.

Combing operations are ongoing in the dense forest zones surrounding the Parasnath hill range, with the aim of uncovering more such hideouts and completely neutralizing the threat. The seized weapons and explosive materials have been sent for forensic and technical analysis.

Security has been heightened across the region to guard against potential retaliatory strikes by the rebels. Officials say this operation stands out as one of the most successful crackdowns on Naxal infrastructure in recent times in Jharkhand, highlighting the critical role of actionable intelligence and coordinated field response.
