POCSO Act accused sentenced to 22 years, fined Rs 15,000

Kiriburu : The court has sentenced Budhan Singh Sundi, accused of raping a minor girl, to 22 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15,000 under the POCSO Act.

In Muffasil police station under West Singhbhum district, a case has been registered under section 376 (3), 506 Bhadvi and 4/6 POCSO Act against the accused Budhan Singh Sundi, father Bijay Singh Sundi, village-Narsanda, police station- Muffasil, Chaibasa, a minor.

He was booked on charges of raping the girl.

On October 11, 2022, the accused entered the victim’s house at night, threatened her and raped her.

In the course of investigation, accused Budhan Singh Sundi was arrested by Chaibasa police and sent to judicial custody.

After collecting all the evidence scientifically, the charge sheet was presented in the court.

On the basis of this, in the course of trial of the said case, in POCSO case no. 60/2022, on June 27, the court of Additional Sessions Judge-I, West Singhbhum, Chaibasa sentenced accused Budhan Singh Sundi for 22 years under Section 4 (2) POCSO.

He has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15,000.
