Ranchi: People in the state welcomed the new year with fun frolic and devotion People started the first of January with worship in the temples. A huge crowd was seen in the temples of the capital Ranchi since morning. A crowd of devotees was seen in the historical Pahadi Mandir in Ratu Road area since 5 am. Here the process of worship continued till late afternoon. Along with this, there was an influx of people in Sankat Mochan Temple located on Main Road, Dakshineswar Kali Temple located on Church Road, Baglamukhi Temple.
There was not a single temple in the city where people have not gathered since morning to offer prayers. In the Jagannathpur temple located in Dhurwa, the doors of the temple were opened for the general public only after the morning Mahapuja. There too people bowed their heads at the doors of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra and wished for a better New Year.
A huge crowd of the people was also witnessed since early in the morning at all the other prominent temples of the temple including Maa Chinmastika Temple in Rajrappa Baba Dham at Deoghar and Basukinath Dham in Jarmundi of Dumka district.
The weather in the capital Ranchi remained pleasant since morning. The sun kept hiding among the clouds and despite the cold winds blowing the people spent their time with family in the parks of the city since afternoon. Kanke Dam, Sidhu-Kanhu Park, Kanke Dam Park, Oxygen Park at Morhabadi, Shrikrishna Singh Park at Doranda and Dhurva Dam, Getalsud Dam, Rukka Dam witnessed a huge
crowd of people.
Talking about the areas adjacent to Ranchi, Tagore Hill, Science City, Ring Road and Patratu Valley also saw a large number of people with their families. The condition of Patratu valley is as if there is a traffic jam. Keeping in view the number of people, elaborate security arrangements have been made in the city and its adjoining areas. The police force also kept patrolling the streets. At the same time, people were also spending time with family in small food outlets and restaurants.
On the night of 31st December before the 1st of January people had a lot of fun in the hotels, halls and restaurants of Ranchi. Somewhere couple entry and somewhere family programs were organized where people had a lot of fun. Colorful programs were also organized in private hotels to welcome the new year. The party went on till late at night. Earlier on Saturday also a crowd was seen at the picnic spot. A group of youths were seen dancing to the tunes of the DJ.
Overall seeing the ritual of farewell and welcome of the year together the happiness doubled. Along with the picnic spot and park people are also seen enjoying the Khadi and Saras fair in Morhabadi. Crowds of people and youth started coming here as soon as the fair was opened from 10 am.
A crowd of people was visible in the food corner set up at the Khadi fair. People were seen liking the local cuisine a lot. Being the first day of the year and being a Sunday, a large number of people came to the Khadi Mela where people are seen immersed in the celebration along with the festival.
