Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today appealed to the people of Chakradharpur to vote for JMM candidate Sukhram Oraon in the upcoming elections. He also launched a fierce attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing its leaders of dishonesty and opportunism.
In his speech, Soren criticized individuals who, according to him, had once been part of the community but had now become “brokers” and “agents” of the BJP. He said, “These dishonest people will come to make false promises. They break the party, break the house, and break society. People from our own caste and community have become brokers of BJP.”
The CM also reiterated the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s long-standing struggle for the rights of the state’s indigenous communities over water, land, and forests. “This is a long struggle. It is a fight to establish these rights in every village panchayat across the state,” he said, adding that JMM’s government was a government for the people, not just based in Ranchi. “Our government has always been one that is run from the villages, not from the city,” he remarked, pointing to various welfare programs like the Aapke Dwar initiative, which brought government services to rural areas.
Soren also touched on the BJP’s governance, accusing the party of pushing Jharkhand into poverty. He claimed that, while the BJP spoke of separating the state, it had contributed to Jharkhand’s economic decline. “BJP has made the state so poor and pushed it so far back, but today, we are taking Jharkhand out of that quagmire and towards a better future,” he said.
The Chief Minister also defended the government’s efforts to reduce the financial burden on the people, particularly in terms of electricity bills. “Our village is so poor that people take loans for small needs. They pay electricity bills by selling their jewelry, and if they can’t pay, the police come and send them to court or jail. We took this burden on ourselves and waived off the electricity bills. Now, no one will get a bill for electricity. We have made 200 units of electricity free,” Soren added.
Soren criticized the BJP for its lavish spending, mocking the party for its use of helicopters. “BJP people are sitting with 50-60 helicopters, hovering over the state like vultures. You all need to prepare your bows and arrows and shoot down these eagles and crows,” he said.
He questioned why the BJP had failed to address such issues during its 20 years in power, emphasizing that the promises made by BJP were false. “These dishonest people will come to make false promises, break the party, break the house, and break society,” he reiterated.
Soren concluded his speech by reinforcing the JMM’s commitment to the people of Chakradharpur and urged them to reject the BJP and its “agents.” “People from our own caste and community have become brokers of BJP. They have become agents of BJP,” he said.
