Pankaj Tripathi Says His ‘Simple, Sensitive’ Nature Comes from His Bihar Roots

Mumbai — Acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi recently reflected on how his upbringing in Bihar continues to shape who he is today. Speaking during a Bihar Diwas celebration at the Embassy of India in Tokyo, he shared that the simplicity, struggles, and emotional depth he carries are deeply connected to his roots.

The event was attended by Her Excellency Nagma Mohamed Mallick, who spoke about Bihar’s rich history and its growing presence on the global stage.

Tripathi, who was there with his family, expressed how much his home state means to him. He said that the values he grew up with — simplicity, resilience, and sensitivity — form the core of his identity. For him, Bihar isn’t just a place; it’s a feeling that stays with you no matter where you go. Being in Tokyo, surrounded by people who share that connection, filled him with a deep sense of pride and belonging.

He also emphasized that what truly defines Bihar is its people — their strength, warmth, and ability to dream despite challenges. According to him, Biharis around the world are steadily making their mark through hard work and talent across fields like arts, education, business, and public service.

Tripathi added that celebrations like Bihar Diwas abroad serve as a reminder of one’s roots. They help reconnect people with their culture, values, and shared memories. For him, such moments are especially emotional, as they bring back memories of his journey and everything that shaped him as both a person and an artist.

Having his family by his side made the occasion even more meaningful. He said it’s not just about celebrating a state, but also about passing on that pride and connection to the next generation.

He concluded by saying that staying connected to one’s roots provides strength and clarity, especially in a global world. Bihar, he believes, represents a legacy of learning and endless potential — and he feels proud to be a part of that story.

The celebration, supported by Anand Vijay Singh, showcased Bihar’s rich cultural heritage through music, dance, and traditional cuisine. Guests also got a glimpse of the state’s art, culture, and growing opportunities in trade, tourism, and investment.
