Pankaj Tripathi credits his ‘simple, sensitive’ nature to Bihar upbringing

Mumbai — Acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi, who recently celebrated Bihar Diwas at the Embassy of India in Tokyo, reflected on how his roots in Bihar continue to shape who he is today. He shared that the simplicity, struggles, and emotional depth he carries are deeply influenced by his upbringing.

The event was attended by Her Excellency Nagma Mohamed Mallick, Ambassador of India to Japan, who spoke about Bihar’s rich historical legacy and its growing presence on the global stage.

Speaking at the gathering, Tripathi said that the essence of Bihar—its simplicity, resilience, and sensitivity—forms the core of his identity. He added that Bihar is more than just a place; it’s a feeling that stays with you, no matter where life takes you. Standing in Tokyo among people who share that connection, he said, filled him with pride and a strong sense of belonging.

He emphasized that what truly defines Bihar is not just its past, but its people—their resilience, warmth, and determination to dream big despite challenges. According to him, Biharis across the world are quietly making meaningful contributions in fields like arts, education, business, and public service, helping shape India’s global image.

Tripathi also noted that celebrations like Bihar Diwas abroad serve as a powerful reminder of one’s roots. For him, such moments are deeply emotional, bringing back memories of his journey and the values that have shaped both his life and career.

He added that celebrating the occasion with his family made it even more special, as it allowed him to pass on that sense of pride and connection to the next generation.

Concluding his thoughts, Tripathi said that staying connected to one’s roots provides strength and clarity, especially in a globalized world. He described Bihar as a land of legacy, learning, and limitless potential, and expressed gratitude for being a part of its story.

The celebration, organised with support from Anand Vijay Singh, showcased Bihar’s rich cultural heritage through traditional music, dance, and cuisine. Guests also got a glimpse of the state’s art, culture, and emerging opportunities in trade, tourism, and investment.
