Ranchi: The campaigning for the third phase of the Panchayat elections in Jharkhand Jharkhand came to an end on Sunday evening while voting will take place on 24th May (Tuesday).
Elections will be held in 19 districts and across 70 blocks of the state. In this election, 27,343 candidates are in the fray for 8,704 posts. In the third phase of Panchayat elections, candidates have filed nominations for elections in 1047 panchayats of the state, but a female head candidate was elected unopposed. At the same time, not a single candidate filed nominations in three panchayats. In this way, elections will be held in 1043 panchayats. Under this, 6423 candidates are in the electoral fray for the post of Mukhiya.
Elections will be held for 12,911 posts for Gram Panchayat members. But, in the event of candidates getting elected unopposed for 5,826 posts and there is no candidate for 715 posts, elections will be held on 6,370 posts. For this 15,583 candidates are in the fray. Apart from this, elections were to be held for 1290 posts for Panchayat Samiti members, but due to the unopposed election of candidates for 122 posts and not getting a single candidate for three posts, elections are to be held on 1,165 posts and for this 4556 candidates are in the fray.
At the same time, elections were to be held for the posts of 128 Zilla Parishad members, but in the event of a candidate being elected unopposed on one post and one remaining vacant, now elections will be held for 126 posts and for this 781 candidates are in the electoral fray.
In the third phase of elections, voting on 24 May in 1043 panchayats. For this 12,912 booths have been made. Under this, the number of general booths is 2087, while the number of sensitive booths is 6021 and the number of very sensitive booths is 3804.
The total Number of Voters who are eligible to vote in this phase is at 46,94,074 in which the number of Male Voters is 24,07,324 while the number of Female Voters is 22,86,740. Number of Third Gender are 10.
