Over 200 percent jump in Covid cases in capital so far in July

Ranchi: The cases of Covid-19 in the state have seen a substantial jump as there has been a rise of more than 200 percent as while on July 1, there were 330 active cases it has now jumped to 800.

The condition has been similar in Ranchi as the capital continues to be the most affected district in the state. The number of cases has gone from 126 to 313 in the last 12 days.

Ranchi Civil Surgeon Vinod Kumar said that the rise in the number of cases is because people are not following necessary covid protocols. He said that people have stopped wearing masks, many do not carry sanitisers and there has also been no social distancing among individuals and all these are the reasons for the rise in covid cases in the state and Ranchi.

On the other hand, only 23 percent of the population between the age group 12 to 14 have been vaccinated with the second dose of vaccination. In this regard, the civil surgeon said that there is no shortage of vaccines in the city.

The majority of the population is unaware of the vaccination and that is why there has been only 23 percent of vaccination so far.
