Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan emphasized on tree plantation programme at Chakulia Block in East Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on Sunday. Governor Radhakrishnan said Environmental balance is necessary along with Industrial development. Governor Radhakrishnan took part in the closing ceremony of the Environmental Awareness Programme.
He said Environment is a Global Issue and it becomes a challenge for us. He added due to Environmental disbalance we have witnessed Extreme Drought, Heat, hailstorms or flood like situations. The reason behind this imbalance is the exploitation of natural resources. It is seen that often Industrial Wastes are dispatched in rivers.
Unnecessary use of pesticides and lack of scientific information. Population Explosion is also responsible for environmental pollution. Governor Radhakrishnan said “One Crore Trees will be planted in the next year in Jharkhand.”
Governor Radhakrishnan expressed his concern over the status of groundwater. He is being informed by the officials about the irrigation facility in the village. Governor Radhakrishnan appreciated the work of environmentalist Padma Awardee Jamuna Tudu. Governor planted 50 Trees with the volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at Raj Bhavan in Ranchi.
He said the Festival of Nature Sarhul is the symbol of environmental protection. He emphasized villagers to plant trees on the occasion of marriage, birth of a child or any other auspicious deeds. He also said to stop using plastic bags while carrying vegetables from the market. Governor Radhakrishnan felicitated Class 10th Topper Shreya and District Topper Kunal who are the residents of Chakulia.
Along with that, the Governor also felicitated social workers and environmentalists of East Singhbhum District.
