Nine lakhs saplings planted on river coast under leadership Raghubar

Ranchi, Jul 2: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das  said that ‘Jal, Junglee aur Zamee​n​’ was not a mere slogan for him but was a treasure which needed to be conserved and enriched so that a greener and cleaner Jharkhand can be handed over to the future generations.

Addressing the people after inaugurating the ‘Nadi Mahotsav’ at the banks of Swarnrekha river in Namkum he said that after his government has assumed over in the state every year on a large scale plantation is being done and the trees are being protected. He said that plantation is being turned into a people’s movement and urged the masses to join the drive to make a clean and green Jharkhand.

The Chief Minister said that in both science and spirituality trees have their own significance while even from economic point of view trees have their own importance and said that by planting trees like Sal, Sagwan, Forest, Teek future expenditure can be meted out. He said that under the scheme which will run till August 2 a total of 2.40 crore plants will be planted in the state.

He said that across the state on this day simultaneously 9 lakh trees will be planted across the river banks as it will help check soil erosion and due to moisture in the ground trees will also be able to get water. He said that last year 2.75 crore plants had been planted on 19,700 hectares of land while forest on 4600 hectares was rejuvenated. While this year the forest department has set target to plant 2,40 crore plants on 15,300 hectares of land while forest on 7000 acres of land will be rejuvenated.
