Deoghar: The Durga Temple ground in Bhojpur lit up on Monday evening as Maa Durga Sporting Yuva Club organized an exciting night football tournament under floodlights. The event was inaugurated by District Olympic Association president Dr. Sunil Khawade, who interacted with the players and ceremonially kicked off the tournament.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Khawade described the initiative as a commendable first for the area, noting that hosting a football tournament under floodlights brings new energy and opportunities for rural talent. He emphasized that such events not only provide a platform for budding players but also inspire youth participation in sports. Assuring continued support, he said efforts are being made to strengthen sports development in the district and promised that the tournament would be organized on a much larger scale next year.
He also encouraged the organizing committee to consider hosting a volleyball tournament in the future, assuring full cooperation for such initiatives.
A total of eight teams—Bhojpur, Dhodsa, Belatikar, Basulia, Jhundi, Khirwatari, Devipur FC, and ST Boys—participated in the tournament. The matches continued late into the night, showcasing spirited performances and drawing enthusiastic support from the local community.
Umesh Sharma officiated as the referee. Among those present were Mukhiya Vibha Chaudhary, club president Bhudev Sharma, along with several local representatives and sports enthusiasts. The event witnessed a strong turnout and vibrant enthusiasm among villagers.
