Ranchi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is interrogating Naxal commander Naveen alias Sarvjeet Yadav and Jitendra Nagesia, accused of murder of 48 Jawans. Ranchi’s NIA branch has taken both the Naxalites on remand for five days.
Naveen alias Sarvjeet Yadav, troubled by the police raids, had surrendered before the Chatra police on November 8. Jitendra Nagesia surrendered before Latehar police on 17 November. Naveen Yadav is accused of 72 major Naxalite attacks in Jharkhand-Bihar.
The Jharkhand government had earlier placed a reward of Rs 10 lakh on him. But later the reward amount was increased to Rs 15 lakh. Naveen was active in Naxal stronghold Budha Pahad and Chhakarbandha area. In June 2016, there was a major Naxal attack on the Aurangabad-Gaya border. 10 Cobra jawans were martyred in this.
Naveen Yadav was leading the Maoists in this attack. Naveen Yadav is also the main accused in the attack in Katia of Latehar in 2013. 17 soldiers were martyred in this attack. In 2011, there was an attack on the convoy of the then Chatra MP Inder Singh Namdhari. In which eight jawans were martyred. In January 2012, 13 Jawans including the police station in-charge were martyred in the Naxal attack in Bhandaria of Garhwa. Naveen Yadav is the link between the Naxalites of Jharkhand and Bihar.
