NIA interrogating Dhanbad man in Bengal explosive case

Ranchi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is interrogating Amarjeet Verma from Dhanbad in connection with a case involving the illegal transportation of explosives in West Bengal. The Kolkata branch of NIA arrested Amarjeet and has now taken him into five-day remand for further questioning in the matter.

This case is related to a 2024 bike explosion. During the illegal transportation of explosives on a bike, an explosion occurred, resulting in the death of Joydev Mandal, with several others also injured. Initially, the case was under the jurisdiction of Bengal Police, but later, the NIA took over the investigation.

On 27th April, the NIA arrested Amarjeet Verma near Dum Dum area, close to Kolkata Airport. Earlier, on 9th April, the NIA had conducted raids at nine different locations across the country in connection with this case.

During the raids, a significant quantity of explosives was recovered from Amarjeet’s residence in Chirkunda, Dhanbad. The investigation also revealed that Amarjeet Verma was involved in the illegal explosives trade.
