Deoghar – Panic spread across Deoghar town on Thursday after a joint raid by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Jharkhand ATS. Acting on intelligence inputs, the teams conducted raids at two separate locations in the town and detained two suspected youths. Both are currently being questioned at the Town Police Station by officials of NIA and ATS.
According to sources, central agencies had received information regarding possible illegal arms trafficking links in Deoghar. Based on this input, the NIA and Jharkhand ATS, with assistance from local police, launched a coordinated operation. The first raid was carried out at Nandi Nagar near Nandan Pahar, where one youth was detained from his maternal uncle’s house. Soon after, the second operation was conducted near Bhurbhura More, where another suspect was taken into custody. Both detainees were brought to the Town Police Station, where agencies are interrogating them to gather details about their contacts, activities, and any possible network behind the suspected operation.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the youth detained from Nandi Nagar is a resident of Ara district in Bihar. His father reportedly works as a driver in a private school in Deoghar. The family is currently living in the Kunda police station area, while the youth had been staying at his maternal relatives’ house in Nandi Nagar for the past few days.
Officials said that no weapons or objectionable materials have been recovered so far during the raids. Considering the sensitive nature of the investigation, no official statement has yet been issued by the agencies.
The joint action by NIA and ATS has created a stir in the town, with local residents closely watching the developments. Investigating agencies are examining every possible lead, and officials maintain that the actual facts will become clear only after the questioning process is completed.
