Ranchi: A hearing was held in the Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday on the suo motu cognizance taken after the murder of gangster Aman Singh in Dhanbad jail. During this, the court orally said that this incident points towards a bigger conspiracy. It is a big deal for weapons to reach jail and a murder to happen. This matter should be investigated by forming a SIT. The government should file its reply on this entire matter.
Jail IG Uma Shankar Singh appeared before the court through video conferencing. The court asked him what he found out in the investigation so far. He told the court that safety measures have been taken full care of. CCTV footage is being examined after the incident. Action has been taken against those who were prima facie shown to be negligent.
So far, four-five accused involved in the incident have been identified and they are being interrogated. He also admitted that there had been a lapse in the security of the jail.
Advocate General Rajeev Ranjan and Advocate Piyush Chitresh presented the case on behalf of the state government in the division bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Justice Ananda Sen. He told the court that the government has taken this incident seriously and a team of senior officials is investigating the entire matter.
