Ramgarh: Hazaribagh Lok Sabha MP Manish Jaiswal met Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Monday and raised a range of issues concerning Jharkhand, including alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC-CGL recruitment examinations, student protests, law and order, organised crime, the illegal drug trade and alleged illegal exploitation of the state’s mineral resources.
During the meeting, Jaiswal reportedly drew the Home Minister’s attention to serious allegations of irregularities and manipulation in the JPSC and JSSC-CGL recruitment examinations. He said allegations regarding the sale of examination seats have raised concerns among candidates and students.
The MP also questioned the credibility of the ongoing CID probe being conducted by the state government, saying that many candidates have expressed doubts about whether the investigation would be sufficiently independent. He urged the Centre to consider a CBI investigation so that the allegations can be examined impartially and those found responsible can face appropriate legal action.
Jaiswal stressed that the issue goes beyond a recruitment examination dispute, as the careers and future prospects of more than five lakh aspirants are linked to the recruitment process. He also briefed Amit Shah about the ongoing student agitation and the demands being raised by candidates seeking a transparent investigation and justice.
The MP further raised concerns over the law-and-order situation in Jharkhand, citing what he described as the growing influence of organised crime and other illegal activities. He specifically highlighted the alleged expansion of the illegal drug trade in areas including Hazaribagh and Ramgarh.
Another issue discussed was the alleged illegal exploitation of Jharkhand’s mineral resources. Jaiswal emphasised the need to protect the state’s natural wealth and ensure that its resources are used transparently and in accordance with the law.
The meeting comes amid heightened concern over recruitment examinations and student protests in Jharkhand. The MP said that protecting the future of the state’s youth, maintaining law and order and safeguarding Jharkhand’s natural resources should remain key priorities.
Jaiswal said the discussions with the Union Home Minister were detailed and constructive and expressed hope that the issues raised would receive appropriate attention at the central level.
