More than 30 thousand Gram Sabhas across the state took oath to protect water, forest and land and its resources

Ranchi: On the auspicious occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, more than 30 thousand Gram Sabhas of the state, using the power given by the Forest Rights Act, 2006, constituted/reconstituted the Forest Rights Committee at the village level and empowered the forest dependent people and communities took oath to make recommendations as per rules on their claim for grant of forest rights patta and to make dedicated and organized efforts to protect water, forest and land and its resources.

With this oath-taking, the implementation of the Abua Bir Dishom Campaign, 2023 (Forest Rights Campaign, 2023) proposed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren for forest rights and the reorganization of Forest Rights Committee, Sub-Divisional Level Forest Rights Committee and District Level Forest Rights Committee also started. After this swearing-in, it will be ensured that the work of formation/reconstitution of Forest Rights Committee at the village level is completed between 3rd to 18th October.

Meanwhile, village wise planning for organizing Gram Sabha in all the villages of the district for the formation of Forest Rights Committee and the action of each Gram Sabha will be ensured in the presence of the observer appointed by the Deputy Commissioner. The Deputy Commissioner of the district will hold a meeting with the district level forest divisional officers and revenue officers in their respective districts in the first and second week of October to ensure the availability of all types of land records, forest maps, etc. for the action to be taken in the village level forest rights committee. Will ensure to prepare a complete action plan.

The Deputy  Commissioner will send a detailed report to the Tribal Welfare Commissioner on October 19 so that the Chief Secretary can be informed about the progress of the work. Formation of FRC cell at subdivision level and block level will be ensured at the district level. In the light of the decision taken by the Gram Sabha on the claims presented by the village level forest rights committee, a copy of the claims recommended to the SDLC will be maintained in the block level FRA cell. It will be mandatory to maintain all the proceedings of sub-division level in the sub-division level FRA cell. District level FRA cell will carry out all the other actions including all the actions taken at the district level.
