Modi government should break silence on Hindenburg Research report, get judicial inquiry done: Rajesh Thakur

Ranchi: After the Hindenburg report, the Congress has started targeting the Modi government as part of which on February 6, Congress will protest in front of the offices of SBI and LIC across the state and has appealed to the account holders of SBI and policyholders of LIC to join it.

State President Rajesh Thakur said in a press conference that the Prime Minister has handed over the stake in LIC and SBI to such a group which has been accused of the biggest corporate fraud of this country. He said when will the investigation against Adani be done in the report of Hindenburg Research. Rajesh Thakur said that the Modi government has kept silent on the report of Hindenburg Research as if nothing has happened.

He said that about 40 crore investors who had put their deposits in LIC, their future is in question. At whose behest did LIC increase its investment from 1 percent in Adani Enterprises to 4.23 percent in LIC and why he asked. LIC officially says that its equity exposure in Adani Group is Ra 56,142 crore. But since the last few days when Adani’s shares are falling, till Friday Rs 33,060 crore of LIC’s 39 crore policy holders and investors have sunk.

He further said that the State Bank of India and other Indian banks have given loans to Adani Group. Adani Group has a debt of about Rs 80,000 crore from Indian banks, which is 38 percent of the group’s total debt. Out of that, the exposure of private banks is 8 percent of the total group loans, while public sector banks have 30 percent of the group loans.

Rajesh Thakur said, the third and perhaps the most sensational revelation so far that has not been noticed by the Indian media is Chang Chung-Ling – a Chinese businessman whose suspicious activities are known to the Indian investigative agency and what is the relation in Adani group.

On the other hand, Congress Legislature Party leader cum Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam said that the property of the country is at stake due to the sinking of the Adani group. The hard-earned money of crores of investors and crores of policyholders is in danger. In this perspective, the Congress party makes three demands from the Modi government.

First, an impartial inquiry should be conducted under the supervision of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court,  whose report should be made public on a day-to-day basis. Second, a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) should be constituted to examine the Hindenburg Research Report in detail.

Thirdly, Adani’s risky investments in LIC, SBI and other nationalized banks should be thoroughly discussed in the Parliament and appropriate steps should be taken to secure the investors’ money. MLAs Amba Prasad, Rakesh Sinha, Amulya Neeraj Khalkho, Rajeev Ranjan Prasad and Dr M Tausif were present on the occasion.
