Mnrega providing maximum employment to migrants during COVID-19

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren is committed to strengthen the rural economy and provide employment to the rural population during the global pandemic Covid-19.

The Mnrega scheme is playing an important role in this task. The state government has set a target to employ rural and migrant workers of the state in their villages and tolas under the scheme.

On the instructions of the Chief Minister, migrant workers returning to the state are being provided job cards during their quarantine period so that they can be provided employment right after returning from the quarantine centres. So far in the financial year 2021-22, 33,000 families have been provided with the new job card, which comprises more than 51 thousand workers.

So far in the financial year 2021-22, a total of 13.80 lakh labourers have been employed under Mnrega and 228 lakh man-days have been created. The government has set a target of implementing at least 5 to 6 schemes in every village, to employ every beneficiary family and labourers in their village as much as possible. Special focus is being given on the implementation of the schemes launched by the state government like Neelambar – Pitambar Jal Samridhi Yojana, Birsa Harit Gram Yojana, Veer Poto Ho Khel Vikas Yojana, Didi Bari Yojana etc.

Focus is on timely providing employment to all the workers and building quality assts in the process. Along with employing all the beneficiary labourers, schemes started by the state government are being implemented in a time-bound manner. Projects related to water conservation and plantation work is being adopted in mission mode and scientific manner.

In the current financial year so far, a total of 47,242 works related to schemes have been completed and 9.42 lakh are operational. About 81 per cent of the total expenditure has been spent on natural resource management related schemes. Along with this, agriculture and agriculture-related works are being implemented to connect villagers with Mnrega.

Almost 94.33 per cent of schemes have been adopted for agriculture and agriculture-related schemes. This is the highest number of agriculture-related schemes implemented by any state under Mnrega in the country. To ensure the participation of women, work is being done by selecting and training the members of Sakhi Mandal as Mate under Mnrega.
