Migrant workers of Jharkhand safe in Tamil Nadu, talk of assault and murder of labourers is baseless

Ranchi: Stating that the government is committed for the security of its migrant workers the state government claimed that all the Migrant workers of Jharkhand safe in Tamil Nadu, talk of assault and murder of labourers is baseless. Pappu, Santosh Ram, Chhotu, Prabhuram, Ramesh Bhuiyan of Latehar, Barwadih, Prakash Kalindi of Saraikela-Kharsawan, Shyam are all migrant workers safely engaged in their work in various factories and construction sites in Coimbatore and Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu.

Similarly, the migrant labourers of Dumka and Ranchi are also working in their work like any other day. They are not facing any kind of problem. No one beat them up, nor are they facing humiliation for being Hindi speaking. The family and their well-wishers should be relaxed. These things were shared by the migrant workers after talks with the Labour Department delegation that went to Tamil Nadu on the instructions of the Chief Minister in places like Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Chengulpet, Kancheepuram etc. 

The delegation ensured that all the workers are safe and all are getting their wages on time. Every possible help is being provided by the Tamil Nadu government to the migrant workers of Jharkhand and other states. Migrant workers in Tamil Nadu are mostly from Palamu, Garhwa, Latehar, Dumka, Chaibasa, Bokaro and Ranchi districts.

During the meeting with the workers, the delegation talked about the spread through social media that Hindi-speaking people are being beaten up by the local residents and they are being threatened to go back to their home state, failing which they will be killed. This matter was also investigated, which was found to be baseless. 

The Jharkhand government had appealed to the people of the state not to pay heed to the rumors being spread on social media. The kind of news that has come through social media and other means of information was verified by visiting Chennai, Erode, Tiruppur, and Coimbatore districts and It was found baseless. All migrant workers working in Tamil Nadu are safe. There is also an appeal to those whose relatives work in Tamil Nadu not to panic.

The Jharkhand government is committed to the safety of all migrant workers and help and information is being provided to them through the State Migrant Control Room. It was observed that some media platforms, print, and audio-visual are showing the reports without verifying the ground-level facts.

The reports shown on the media platforms during the field visit interaction with the workers by the delegation have been found to be misleading. Information and Public Relations Department urges all newspapers and portals that they should take full care in publishing or showing the news and also include official statements being issued on the matter to prevent the spread of misinformation.
