‘Mardaani 3’ Team Refutes Claims of Using Missing Persons Campaign as Promotional Strategy

Mumbai- The producers of the forthcoming film ‘Mardaani 3’, featuring Rani Mukerji, have rejected allegations that they orchestrated a paid public relations campaign by circulating reports about missing persons in Delhi to generate publicity for the film.

On Friday, the Delhi Police addressed the issue through their official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating, “After following a few leads, we discovered that the hype around the surge in missing girls in Delhi is being pushed through paid promotion. Creating panic for monetary gains won’t be tolerated, and we’ll take strict action against such individuals.”

Responding to the allegations, a spokesperson for Yash Raj Films (YRF) told IANS, “Yash Raj Films is a 50-year-old company built on strong principles of ethics and transparency. We firmly deny the claims circulating on social media suggesting that Mardaani 3’s promotional campaign has intentionally sensationalised such a sensitive issue. We have complete faith in the authorities and believe that all facts will emerge in due course.”

Earlier media reports indicated that Delhi Police registered 807 missing persons cases this year, averaging nearly 54 cases daily. Among these, 509 involved women and girls, while 298 involved men. The figures included 191 minors and 616 adults. Authorities have successfully traced 235 individuals, while 572 cases remain unresolved.

In 2025, more than 24,500 missing persons cases were reported, with women accounting for over 60 percent of the total. Of these, more than 9,000 cases were still unresolved by the end of the year.

Amid rising public concern, Delhi Police clarified that there has been no significant increase in missing persons cases in 2026 compared to previous years, noting that the monthly average remains around 2,000 cases and the overall trend has remained relatively consistent.
