Maoists Zonal & Area commanders surrender before Jharkhand Police

Ranchi: In yet another success for the Jharkhand Police and paramilitary forces which were involved in anti-insurgency operations in the state two hardcore Maoists including a zonal commander who was carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head surrendered before the authorities on Monday. In a function held at the office of Ranchi Zone IG Zonal Commander of the CPI Maoists Suresh Singh Munda who was carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head and area commander Lodaro Lohra who was carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head surrendered before the senior officials of police and CRPF.

Addressing the function IG Operations of Jharkhand Police Amol V Homkar said that after the surrender of Zonal Commander Jivan Kandulna in February 2021 Suresh Munda and Lodaro Lohra were sent to Podahaat region of
Kolhan. However, due to increased police pressure, growing exploitation in the organization and attracted by the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the Jharkhand government both of them decided to return to the mainstream of life. He said that Suresh Singh Munda was a key and trusted aide of Central Committee Member of the CPI Maoists Misir Besra alias Sagar Ji and was also part of his attack squad. He had been associated with the organisation for nearly 25 years, the senior officer said.

Munda originally hails from Baruhatu under the Bundu Police Station area of the Ranchi district. Against him, a total of 67 cases are registered in different police stations. On the other hand, Lodaro Lohra hails from Lupungahatu village under Arki Police Station area of Khunti district and against him, a total of 54 cases are registered in the different police stations.
