Maoists are the biggest hurdle in development process: DGP D K Pandey

Chaibasa, Nov 6: Jharkhand DGP D K Pandey said that Maoists were the biggest hurdle in the development process and the state police was committed to wipe them out from the state.

He once again urged the Maoists to surrender and return to the main stream of life. Mr Pandey in a function here felicitated the Chaibasa Police for arresting top maoist commander Sandeep Ji. He said that Sandeep was carrying a reward of Rs 45 lakh which would be also given to the district police.

The DGP patted the back of Kolhan Range DIG Saket Kumar and Chaibasa SP Anish Gupta for the arrest of Sandeep Da alias Motilal Soren and gave them a letter of appreciation. He congratulated the team for the arrest and also gave them a sum of Rs 2.50 lakh from his own behalf for the arrest. The nine member team which arrested Sandeep Da was being led by the SP himself.

The DGP said that while Jharkhand Government had announced a award of Rs 25 lakh while Odisha government had announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh which would be given to Chaibasa police. He said that after the arrest of Sandeep the backbone of the Maoists has broken in Saranda area and said that police was conducting anti Maoists operations in Podhahaat area.

Sandeep Da was arrested while watching a football match on November 1 while watching a football match. Those present also included ADG Anurag Gupta, IG Operations Ashish Batra, CRPF IG Sanjay Latkar and others.
