Maoist zonal commander Nakul Yadav surrenders before Jharkhand Police

Ranchi, May 4 : In  a major set back for the Maoists in the state
one of its top most commanders and one among the most dreaded ultras
Nakul Yadav who was carrying a bounty of Rs 15 lakh on his head
surrendered before the Jharkhand Police Today.
In a function organised at the office of DIG of South Chottanagpur
A V Homkar Nakul Yadav alongwith his associated Madan Yadav who also
carried a bounty of Rs 5 lakh laid down their weapons before ADG
Operations R K Mallik here.
Nakul Yadav was the Bihar regional commander of the Maoists and was
active in Lohardaga, Gumla, Latehar, Palamu and Ranchi districts. He
was also accused of forcibly recruiting the children into the Maoists
ranks. More than 150 cases are registered against Nakul Yadav in
separate police Station areas of the state.
His associate Madan Yadav has been part of the Maoists since 2009.
He was recently promoted as a zonal commader buts since he did have
squad under his disposal therefore he was operating as a sub-zonal
commander.
It was on the inputs provided by Nakul Yadav that police launched a
massive search operation in the Buda Pahar area of Latehar to catch
top maoist leader Arvind Ji. However the police had to return empty
handed.
On the other hand police headquarter sources said that based on his
information in a joint operation by the district police and CRPF
personnel huge cache of arms and ammunitions were recovered from Kerar
Bulbul of Pesrar of Lohardaga district.
The recovered items included 3,347 cartridges, a Light Machine Gun
(LMG), US made semi-automatic rifle, an AK-47, a SLR, 3 Insas rifles,
six other guns, walkie talkies, uniforms, 10 bundles of codex wires
and Maoists literature.
