Mandar Bypolls: Shilpi Neha Tirkey files nomination as Mahagathbandhan candidate

Ranchi: For the bypolls on the Mandar seat of Jharkhand Assembly Shilpi Neha Tirkey on Thursday filed her candidacy as the nominee of the Mahagathbandhan at the collectorate here. Shilpi is the daughter of former Mandar MLA and ex-minister Bandhu Tirkey.

During the nomination Chief Minister Hemant Soren, incharge for Congress Party Affairs in Jharkhand Avinash Pandey, cabinet ministers Rameshwar Oraon, Banna Gupta, Alamgir Aalam and Badal were present. Before filing her nominations Shilpi reached at the residence of JMM supremo Shibu Soren and also took his blessings during which her father Bandhu Tirkey was also present.

Later he paid a visit to Bishop Telesopher P Toppo and took his blessings. Shilpi is contesting the elections as the nominee of the Congress party and has been extended full support by the JMM and the RJD. Shilpi Neha Tirkey has done her graduation from Christ University Bengaluru and has done PG Diploma in Marketing Communications from St Xavier’s College Mumbai.

She said that as part of a conspiracy her father has been implicated in a false case. She said that the main purpose behind coming into politics is to take the works of her father forward and reach the last person in society. The voting for the Mandar seat is scheduled for June 23 while the counting of votes will take place on June 26.

The bypolls on the seat have been necessitated after Bandhu Tirkey lost the membership of the house after being convicted in a DA case by a special CBI court.
