Major rejig likely in Jharkhand Police, 16 IPS officers to be promoted soon

Ranchi: A major reshuffle is on the cards in Jharkhand Police as 16 IPS officers from the state cadre are set to receive promotions within the next two months. The promotions will cover ranks from SP Selection Grade up to ADG. Police Headquarters has completed the proposal and sent it to the state government through the Home Secretary. Sources said an official notification will follow soon after approval.

Among the senior officers, 2001-batch IPS officer Manoj Kaushik, who currently serves as Ranchi Zonal IG and also holds charge of CID IG, will be promoted to Additional Director General (ADG). Three officers from the 2008 batch—Anish Gupta, presently on central deputation with the CBI; M. Tamilvanan, posted at the National Police Academy in Hyderabad; and Ajay Linda, DIG of Home Guards and Fire Services—are likely to be elevated to Inspector General (IG) rank.

In the next level, 2010-batch officer Kusum Punia will be promoted to Deputy Inspector General (DIG). She will be joined by five 2012-batch officers—Kishore Kaushal, Akhilesh V. Varier, Anjani Kumar Jha, Mohammad Arshi, and Anand Prakash—who are also slated for promotion to DIG rank.

At the SP level, six officers from the 2013 batch—Hurdip P. Janardan, Nidhi Dwivedi, Anshuman Kumar, Prashant Anand, Harilal Chauhan, and one other officer—will be promoted to the Selection Grade. Following these promotions, a series of new postings and internal transfers are expected across key positions in the Jharkhand Police.
